Our Story

 A Tradition of PRIDE!

Yadkin County Schools, under the leadership of former Superintendent Dr. Barbara Todd, purchased our facilities from Case Craft and opened our school in 2003. Mr. David Brown was the first principal of the Yadkin Success Academy and served from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, Mrs. Mary Catherine “Kaky” Berry took over as our principal and served until 2016. Charles Garrett currently serves as principal.

The Yadkin Success Academy is an alternative school that provides small group instruction and individualized care of students who were not experiencing success in a regular school setting. We house K-8 self-contained exceptional children programs as well as an alternative educational program for students in grades 7-12.

Our purpose is to provide an option for students when their behavior management or academic performance needs cannot be met in a regular education setting.

OUR GOALS:

  • Intervene and address problems that prevent a student from achieving success in the regular education setting.
  • Reduce the risk of the student dropping out of school by directing resources to help the student resolve issues affecting performance at school.
  • Return the student to the regular educational setting as soon as is practical with the skills necessary to succeed in that environment.
  • Preserve a safe, orderly, inviting and caring learning environment for all of our students and staff.
