My name is Amber Waddell and I am one of three School Social Workers for Yadkin County Schools. I am assigned to Yadkin Success Academy, which is the alternative school for YCS. I have been a School Social Worker since August 2018. Prior to this, I worked as a Residential Social Worker and Youth Program Facilitator for five years. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Appalachian State University.
School Social Workers help parents, students, and school staff identify needs that interfere with learning and work with students and families to get the services they need. Some of the areas I cover are homebound, homelessness, child abuse and neglect situations, and attendance. In addition, I help students throughout the school day if they are in need of a break to process certain situations or emotions. My goal is to help each child grow, learn, and be successful. Please know that I am here to help families and students navigate the numerous resources in our community. Feel free to reach out if you have a need, question, or concern: [email protected] or 336-551-1166.
